I'm not getting political. Trust me, you don't want to go there, but I have to vent. When McCain named Sarah Palin as his running mate today, I didn't know anything about her yet. But before I got the chance, I turn on CNN and there is this FEMALE California senator on saying that she doesn't have enough experience and that we can never say that about Barack. Okay, two things. You're in politics, I can say whatever I dang well want to. Welcome to the First Amendment. Second, she's not running for president. She's running for vice president. But that's not what I'm angry about.
That woman has five kids. One with special needs. As a working mother, I know that she accomplished everything while managing a household. I'm sorry, but most men don't have to do that. We're the ones working, cleaning the house, driving the kids to soccer, and managing the schoolwork. No experience??? Oh man, what kind of ignorant woman would say that about a working mother? Are you familiar with the concept?
But then, I saw this picture. Sarah's husband is hot. I think the California senator is just jealous.
I have one word: AMEN!!

I mentioned to my dh that she had 5 kids - that more than qualifies her to do ANYTHING! He agreed.

ReplyDeleteAfter reading about her, I find her to be one of the most interesting candidates ever. She's a moose hunter AND she's attractive. We've never seen that combo in a VP :)
Not to mention her political accomplishments - she's apparently pretty tough.

See Tricia, that's just it, isn't it? Multitasking. That's the thing, the Senator talking did not look like the marrying kind -- okay, maybe now that it's legal in CA, but seriously, when I heard that I went ballistic. What is with women not respecting other women's choices?
ReplyDeleteI too think it's very cool that she's a former pageant girl and a HUNTER. Just because it makes me want to ask her so many questions. I wouldn't hunt if my life depended on it, but I'm intrigued. I gotta say.
LOL. I hadn't seen the pic of her hubby yet. I have to say, I am a political junky. It is a very difficult task for me to keep my blog a political friendly zone... So I'm trying to keep my posts to non-affiliated related posts. GOOD GRIEF that is hard.

I think the woman senator was trying to help the whole 'voting for McCain because of the woman V.P." thing. She was trying to do the whole "I'm a woman and I'm not going to vote for her..." rhetoric. I don't think it worked very well:-)

All that, and she's been in Vogue and said she likes to stand up to the good 'old boys. I liked what she said about elected officials being *servants* of the people, too.

And FYI, there's no such thing as a stay at home mom...with carpool and groceries, and banking, and dry cleaning, and play dates, and doctor appts., and football/soccer/hockey/basketball games and practices, and ballet/piano/recital/karate lessons/matches, etc..............NO SUCH THING AS A STAY AT HOME MOM!!!!!!
We are ALL WORKING women who do MORE than any gov't official can EVER UNDERSTAND!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I was excited to see the announcement. She sounds like a role model, and we need more of that kind in politics.
ReplyDeleteOddly, in this race, Mrs. Palin is the ONLY one with actual experience of running any part of Government. She is a Governor, has been a Mayor, and the rest of the cronies are just Senators.

I think she is a great choice.
Really, if they're going to call us anything, it should be stay mobile moms, because when is the last time you actually GOT to stay home?
ReplyDeleteI have known about Governor Palin for a while, and was hoping Senator McCain (who does not excite me...) would choose her. I was elated when he did! They are coming to MI for a Rally on Friday (9/5) and I will be there, God willing!
