I'm not getting political. Trust me, you don't want to go there, but I have to vent. When McCain named Sarah Palin as his running mate today, I didn't know anything about her yet. But before I got the chance, I turn on CNN and there is this FEMALE California senator on saying that she doesn't have enough experience and that we can never say that about Barack. Okay, two things. You're in politics, I can say whatever I dang well want to. Welcome to the First Amendment. Second, she's not running for president. She's running for vice president. But that's not what I'm angry about.
That woman has five kids. One with special needs. As a working mother, I know that she accomplished everything while managing a household. I'm sorry, but most men don't have to do that. We're the ones working, cleaning the house, driving the kids to soccer, and managing the schoolwork. No experience??? Oh man, what kind of ignorant woman would say that about a working mother? Are you familiar with the concept?
But then, I saw this picture. Sarah's husband is hot. I think the California senator is just jealous.
I have one word: AMEN!!
ReplyDelete:D
I love it when you talk politics, Kristin! =)
ReplyDeleteA favorite blogger of mine did a little research on Sarah, and I love what she came up with. You can read about it here:
http://www.iowageekonline.com/2008/08/i-think-im-impressed.html
And tell me, does that Calfornia senator have the experience of running a state like Sarah Palin does??? I think not! =)
I mentioned to my dh that she had 5 kids - that more than qualifies her to do ANYTHING! He agreed.
ReplyDeleteHere, here! I was totally excited when I heard because for the first time at this level of politics there is someone who reflects me (even though I only have 3 kids.) And I think you're right about the senator!
ReplyDeleteExactly, Kristen. Like you, I didn't know much about her when I first heard the announcement, but after doing some research, I am definitely impressed.
ReplyDeleteAmen, again!
ReplyDeleteAfter reading about her, I find her to be one of the most interesting candidates ever. She's a moose hunter AND she's attractive. We've never seen that combo in a VP :)
Not to mention her political accomplishments - she's apparently pretty tough.
I, also, love it when Kristin goes political on this blog.
I agree totally!
ReplyDeleteIn fact, they should get a bunch of mothers on the UN, we could totally solve that whole World Peace thing...while cooking dinner and solving algebraic equations!
See Tricia, that's just it, isn't it? Multitasking. That's the thing, the Senator talking did not look like the marrying kind -- okay, maybe now that it's legal in CA, but seriously, when I heard that I went ballistic. What is with women not respecting other women's choices?
ReplyDeleteI too think it's very cool that she's a former pageant girl and a HUNTER. Just because it makes me want to ask her so many questions. I wouldn't hunt if my life depended on it, but I'm intrigued. I gotta say.
LOL. I hadn't seen the pic of her hubby yet. I have to say, I am a political junky. It is a very difficult task for me to keep my blog a political friendly zone... So I'm trying to keep my posts to non-affiliated related posts. GOOD GRIEF that is hard.
ReplyDeleteThat said, wow, a woman V.P.
I think the woman senator was trying to help the whole 'voting for McCain because of the woman V.P." thing. She was trying to do the whole "I'm a woman and I'm not going to vote for her..." rhetoric. I don't think it worked very well:-)
Gotta love politics. It will be an interesting few months!
Five kids and governor of a frozen state! How much more experience does this woman need? And don't even get me going on Barack and his great experience. Please!
ReplyDeleteI'm thrilled to see a woman running as VP on the repub. ticket
Okay, so Jaime and Sally took what I was going to say, lol. You definitely put a great spin on politics, Kristin. And you're right...her husband IS hot, lol.
ReplyDeleteSarah "Barracuda". She was also a high school basketball champ.
All that, and she's been in Vogue and said she likes to stand up to the good 'old boys. I liked what she said about elected officials being *servants* of the people, too.
ReplyDeleteDisclaimer: Not like being in Vogue matters, but you've got to say she doesn't sound like one to be pigeon-holed...
Your post cracked me up! I just think she might be jealous. :-) Not getting political either, but I have to admit that I got a little emotional when McCain introduced her. She sounds like a heck of a woman.
ReplyDeleteROFLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL!!
ReplyDeleteRead her bio on Wikipedia, and you'll get even HOTTER under the collar:-) Sarah Palin is AMAZING!!
I know who I'M votin' for!!!
And FYI, there's no such thing as a stay at home mom...with carpool and groceries, and banking, and dry cleaning, and play dates, and doctor appts., and football/soccer/hockey/basketball games and practices, and ballet/piano/recital/karate lessons/matches, etc..............NO SUCH THING AS A STAY AT HOME MOM!!!!!!
We are ALL WORKING women who do MORE than any gov't official can EVER UNDERSTAND!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I was excited to see the announcement. She sounds like a role model, and we need more of that kind in politics.
ReplyDeleteOddly, in this race, Mrs. Palin is the ONLY one with actual experience of running any part of Government. She is a Governor, has been a Mayor, and the rest of the cronies are just Senators.
ReplyDeleteAnd whoever coined the phrase "Stay-At-Home Mom" wasn't one. We all know they don't STAY at home.
I think she is a great choice.
Really, if they're going to call us anything, it should be stay mobile moms, because when is the last time you actually GOT to stay home?
ReplyDeleteI have known about Governor Palin for a while, and was hoping Senator McCain (who does not excite me...) would choose her. I was elated when he did! They are coming to MI for a Rally on Friday (9/5) and I will be there, God willing!
ReplyDeletePalin in 2016!!!!
