Justification:
I have often joked that I could justify anything, just give me a minute to think about it. Never has that been more true that when I plunked down $80 for a computer mouse. That's right, just the mouse, but it fit my hand perfectly. It was like...it was like trying on a two carat diamond ring and knowing it was meant to be yours! Reason didn't factor into it.

Though, here we go with my excellent justification skills. I spend at least eight hours a day with my trusty mouse. I know it intimately. It's more than a job, it's a relationship. Surely, he needed me like I needed him. We clasped hands and it was meant to be! Secondly, it was a Logitech mouse. My husband worked for them for years. Logitech bought me a house, they paid for my kids' private school, even funded my espresso habit. I OWED Logitech. It was the least I could do.

But see, this kind of justification gets me into trouble. I buy Joe's Jeans. They're expensive, but worth every penny. I won't bother justifying them here, but trust me, I could. But I did have to justify the little girl versions for my husband. Oh my gosh, to see my Elle in little Joe's Jeans. It was a moment, I tell you!! She's like a little blonde Kristin strutting down the street. Anyway, I'm on a spending diet this month. Of course, that was after the mouse (Dec. 31), but so far, so good. I have some accountability partners and everything!

God rewarded me for this spending diet too because my friends, the Yaos, bought me a black Prada for taking care of their dog. (Yes, I know! But that's the kind of friends I have!!) Anyway, if anyone ever wondered why I write chick lit. Here it is: I have the justification gene.

Oh what do you think of my new cover? Kristin

LOL! Too funny!

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the cover!!! I'd buy that book in a second - without really exploring it past the cover. It's perfect.

Speaking of justification...

I, for one, am glad you wear expensive jeans, prada bags, and rockin' shoes (the shoe thing is a guess on my part). Research is important. How could you write chick-lit without indulging? Thank you for doing what you do for the sake of our entertainment. :) We are forever grateful.

And, Yes I love the cover.
If I saw it without knowing your work before,I would buy it.
By the way, you got some very wonderful friend's!
Blessing...

The old cover was pretty good too, but I think this one is better.

I can beat you on the mouse. I bought a Kensington track ball for $90 and it's worth every single penny.

The cover is great and the title is THE BEST EVER.

As for the spending diet, I've been on it. Unfortunately, if you cut too far back, your spending muscles will atrophy. Then, when you reintroduce moderate spending later, you'll buy a bunch of crap. Before you know it, you'll have spent way more money than you would have, and you'll have less quality to show for it.

If you're not careful, you could (like me) end up with jeans from Walmart. :)

I have to admit to a spending spree this month too. I think it's the after-Christmas-tired-of-buying-for-everyone-else syndrome. The Gap has been the recipient of plenty of my money - they have the cutest pants that just beg to be worn. I bought my first pair of K-Swiss shoes - granted $65 shoes aren't the most expensive - (and I cheated and got them on sale for $15) - but give me SOME credit - at least I'm stepping up in the world and away from Merrill, Chaco, and every other outdoor foot fetish-wear you can purchase.
Anyway - that's my longwinded reply to say I relate to the spending binge.

I love the new cover. I must ask though, is the main character a brunette? My pet peeve is when the main character is say, brunette, but they put a blonde on the front cover. I never understood that.

Just finished Poppy's book. My favorite of the three. I related to her wierdness. Thank God you were able to capture it on paper! :) :)

I am supposed to be on a spending diet, but I got the urge to go to my favorite jewelry store the other day and before I knew it, I was getting my wedding rings redone with the addition of several diamonds, etc. (Don't worry, my husband was there and was all for it.)

Katy, if you are into jewelry, I can direct you to a very dangerous place on the plaza. I live in KC, too.

I guess I should feel bad about spending the money, but wedding rings are forever, right?

Cover's cool! And yesterday I 'shopped' (and I use the term loosely) at a new mulitlevel Nordstroms with private showing rooms for Gucci, Dior, blah, blah, blah. No matter that the purse on my arm came from Tar-zhay. I marched right up to a $300 purse and rubbed its supple leather between my fingers, pretending not to notice the glares from the staff. Too fun.

Hm, interesting to hear you're loving your Joe jeans. My daughter's pair ripped on the second wearing. So much for $200 jeans. She's gone on to Sevens and True Religions, and now she's a happy camper. Same basic price range, but at least they're hanging together.

As for me, I'm thinking--I spend $200 for a pair of jeans, they're comin' with some bling!

At 12:46 PM, Blogger Kristin said...

They wouldn't be Brandilyn jeans without the bling, are you kidding me? Hey, Joe's handle a girl with junk in her trunk, know what I'm saying?

Julie, you go ahead and rub that supple leather, it gives you a goal. : ) I'm in Tarjay far more than Nordy's. I have a gift certificat to Nordy's and no time to spend it. That stinks.

Kristin, I love the new cover. I can't wait to read it! When will it be out?

I'm totally hooked on the show Split Ends so I'm curious to see the similarities or differences that will occur. :)

I think the book is out in April, but I'm not certain because there was a changeover where my pub got bought by another, and it's supposed to be on the same schedule, but I haven't got a date for certain. It's in the catalog for April though. : ) kristin

Love the new cover.

Honestly, I've never even heard of Joe's Jeans. I think it must be because I am stuck in the Midwest. I had to Google them just to see what they were. Maybe if I ever visit my siter-in-law in LA I can see a pair up close! LOL

LOL, Kristin, you just brightened my day. And it's been kind of a downer at that. I have been sitting here laughing all the way through your post. And then I went and read Diann's just above it about the truffle a day. You guys are a hoot.

Keep 'em coming!

BTW, I like your cover, too.

My first boyfriend just dumped me...he said that he liked me at first but once he got to know me he didn't and then he realized that he was just dating me because he thought I was beautiful.

Whatever.

That justifies anything I want for at least three months, right?
