Girls Write Out
Wednesday, December 05, 2007

Yesterday I was at Starbucks (a lot of my stories start this way, I realize that -- writing from home my water-cooler chat time is limited) -- and I've been working out. I've lost some weight and well, I was just feeling confident/full of myself, you be the judge.

So I'm in Starbucks and this guy keeps smiling at me. I start looking at the coffee mugs for sale because I don't have my wedding ring on, and I'm thinking, gosh, I am just so hot and this poor guy is going to think there's a chance because I don't have my wedding ring on. (Do you see that I actually feel sorry for the guy not getting a chance with my hot self? How do you spell delusional?)

So I grab my coffee and walk towards the door and he grins really wide at me. Outside, I look into the window at myself and I kid you not, my hair is sticking STRAIGHT up off my head like Pippi Longstocking. I seriously have a TAIL on my head. Okay, this sends me into bent-at-the-waist laughter. I mean, I'm in front of Starbucks cracking myself up. I have to hold my coffee up. Now I'm like a homeless weirdo with wild hair, laughing to myself in public!! Hot? Maybe not. Ready for the straight-jacket? Probably. But I did entertain myself.

I just got home from San Francisco where I saw Dorothy Hamill, Brian Boitano, Victor Petrenko and others skate to the live music of Barry Manilow. THAT was fun!! Absolutely perfect night in the City. Barry looked younger than the last time I saw him, and I do believe that was around 1981 or so! He was fabulous, as were the skaters.

The picture is of my new puppy -- we're calling her Bridget or Fiona -- and she'll be joining our family around the 20th. Isn't she a doll? She's half Pomeranian/half Yorkie.

LOL Kristin, this is hilarious! I love that you can laugh at yourself and share with us. Now that's what I call self-confidence. :)

Oh, missed Starbucks yesterday as I had a sick kid! Wonder if that guy thought you were laughing at him.

Adorable puppy! Simply adorable!

Wait a minute, you've lost weight and you're back in Starbucks???????????? I hope it was one of those disgusting no whip, skinny, no pumps, Americano with decafs............ha!

You made my day Kristin! You go girl! Anyone who can have a belly laugh at herself is alright by me!

What a darling pup!

He did not see me laughing at myself BTW, and when I got into my car, I saw him come out of Starbucks and get on his BIKE. Not motorcycle, people. Bicycle. And he was probably riding home to his Mama's house. ROFLOL

Tricia, you laugh, but I almost got a "Dorkie" just because I so enjoyed the name. LOL

Oh, how God can kick our pride in the butt! I laugh because it sounded so much like me!! LOL I always get all nervous when I forget my ring. Like I'm some kind of man magnet! Ha ha!

Is that a Yorkeranian? What do you call those things? He's cute as a button, anyway.

Kay, the breeder called it a Yorkie/Pom -- I don't know if there's an official name. My dad thought it looked like the dog in "As Good as it Gets" -- one of my all-time favorite movies!! But Verdell is a Brussels Griffon -- they both look like Ewoks though. : )

Hilarious, but seriously, how rude of that guy to stare at you that way. Like he's never just rolled out of bed and headed for Starbucks. (Oh, wait. That was me...)

And I usually keep my Barry Manilow obsession to myself (except for the occasional burst into song). So cool that you can admit it, Kristin :)

Adorable pup. And I'm sure you looked adorable at SB. Think I'll head over there for a peppermint mocha. Yum-O.

Oh she's adorable! And I like both names.

Wish I'd been there to giggle with you!

Too funny, Kristen, I have a few of those stories. LOL.

One time I was at the gym and this Orienta man kept staring at me as we worked the weight machines. I'd "glance" up and around, and there he'd be. What? Then, I'd peek at myself in the big ole Wall-o-Mirror and go, "nooo, I am not hot..."

I told Tony he must have been thinking, "White women are sure big and ugly.) LOL.

Anyway, the puppy is adorable!

And congrats on losing a few pounds.

The puppy is adorable and I'm crying I'm laughing so hard at your story. What makes it so funny is that we've ALL done something like it at one time or another and can really relate. Oh come on, y'all KNOW you have! It's NOT just me!

And Kristin, I'm prayig nyour cute puppy doesn't do what mine did. Grow into a moose. :o)

Later this month, I'll post my Christmas letter on my blog. It has a photo of then and now.

Ane, no way is that adorable little pup gonna be even half as big as your Shadrack! That dog is a moose in a dog suit LOL.

If you only knew how many times that happens to me! I will seriously crack up at something, either that I realize about myself or - even worse - when I think of something hilarious, and so many people wither look at me like I'm crazy or start laughing with me (I prefer to say with me rather than at me). I know EXACTLY where you are coming from.

I forgot to add the puppy is adorable. Now the question is, is she going to stay at home or are you already searching for a bag to carry her around in? There are some really cute ones out there. :)

The puppy is staying home. I am not a dog/purse carrying kind of girl. I actually like BIG dogs, but until my kids get older I didn't think I could handle one here. We live on a hill with lots of critters, so an inside dog is the thing for us now. : ) KB

Kris, where WAS your wedding ring? haha.

At 12:06 PM, Blogger Kristin said...

I actually don't wear my wedding rings very often because my hands are always so busy and I'm allergic to everything, so it's rare I have them on, but I have four children with me generally, which is enough of a deterrent to most.

On the dog name: Go for Bridget.

On the Starbucks, congrats on losing weight. Don't let anyone laugh near you until you have laughed at yourself.

I am losing weight. Don't need crunches when I have such wonderful stories to laugh at. Ouch, my tummy hurts, thank you very much.

I do think we're going with Bridget. Bridget Billerbeck seems to go in a doggy sort of way. I got her a darling pink collar and leash yesterday. : )

Great story, Kristin, LOL!

The puppy is darling. I thought from looking at the dog's picture that you'd named it Gucci, and thought that sounded very Ashley Stockingdale, lol. ;0)

Love that the guy got on a bike and rode away!

I spit my coffee all over my computer, Kristin, thankewverrymuch. Sheesh, that was funny.

I loved Dorothy Hamill!! I wore her haircut in college. That is so cool. I bet she looks younger than I do. Sigh.

And the puppy is too cute. Makes me want another one, but unlike babies, these babies never grow up to pour their own milk.
