THEY'VE GOT IT COVERED

There's something wonderful about a great cover isn't there? Maybe it's my artistic background, but a catchy color combination and great design make me want to stop and stare.

That's how I feel about the cover on The Convenient Groom (Thomas Nelson, April '08). It's so pretty, I just want to sit and look at it. The colors, the tulle, the ocean . . . I have to say, hands down, I think it's the best cover I've ever had.

If you've been around Christian fiction a few years, you know that covers have come a long way. A great cover makes you want to dig right into to the story, and today's covers makes you wish you had more book money.

Here are some of my favorites CBA covers. It's obvious I'm attracted to soft and romantic. I'm sure the others might have a different take.

In Search of Eden by Linda Nichols

Love Starts with Elle by Rachel Hauck

The Measure of a Lady by Deanne Gist

Jumping in Sunset by Dawn Ringling

Breach of Promise by James Scott Bell

What about you? What are the covers that knock your socks off? The most memorable ones? The ones that begged you to pick them up off the shelf and take them home?

This is one of the best covers I've seen in awhile, I just love it.

I also love the cover for Love Starts With Elle.

I also like the cover for Julie Lessman's A Passion Most Pure

I can't think of others at the moment, but I know there are more!

I adore this cover too, D! But I think my fave is still Surrender Bay. It looks like you can just slip into the ocean right then and there. But then I'm a sucker for the impact of setting.

Denise,

I adore this cover! I can almost feel the thickness and softness of the dress. And the gloves! So classy!

Can't wait to read it!

It's a GREAT cover, Denise, and that dress looks so much like my daughter's wedding dress, I can almost imagine that's HER on your cover! For the record, I think I agree with Colleen...I liked the Surrender Bay cover even better.

One of the most gorgeous covers I can remember is Nancy Rue's Pascal's Wager. I bought the book simply because the cover was so beautiful! I confes I still haven't read it, but I love looking at that gorgeous foil-stamped, embossed beauty of a cover.

When I browse a bookstore, I look for author names first. When I don't see new ones by the tried and true, I scan titles. Next comes covers.

I like most of the covers mentioned, but I don't know that they drew me to them.

For some reason, I'm attracted to books with water on the cover. Almost all of Charles Martin's books do, and I particularly love the covers of "Wrapped in Rain," and "The Dead Don't Dance."

"Surrender Bay" is another, as are Colleen's Rock Harbor and Aloha Reef books.

When I imagine a cover for my own wannabe, it has water in it.

Maybe I like blues and greens. Maybe there's some symbolism about depths.

Or maybe I'm just dehydrated.

My favorite cover would have to be that of "Three Weddings and a Giggle" by Liz Curtis Higgs, Carolyn Zane & Karen Ball.

It's got the cutest little mouse just peeking out from the bridal boquet above the pink rose (the only flower in colour for that matter).

I actually bought the book because I liked the look of the cover and it's a great book (well, 3 books actually).

Blessings,
Beth

Another cover I love is Freefall by
Kristen Heitzmann. The colors are gorgeous! Makes me feel like I'm in a tropical place.

Thought of another one...
I also think Fancy Pants by Cathy Marie Hake is an adorable cover. I saw it and wanted to buy it right away.

This is a wonderful cover--I really love it.

I agree with you on the other covers, too.

I like Mary Connealy's Petticoat Ranch.

While I'm not a visual learner and do not focus much on the cover, I do have an art background and have some feelings about it.

I thought your Surrender Bay was a nice cover, too.
