Oh D, you have to try this great website. It's called Allrecipes.com
You put in your ingredients and up pops a bunch, and you just wait until you strike gold and have everything. LOL
That being said, I decided at 6:30, we were having spaghetti. LOL
If I didn't plan out our meals before I went to the grocery store every week, we would NEVER make dinner. That said, we do always have frozen veggie mix that we can cook in a skillet and add chicken to.
Omgosh, I'm gonna try that website Kristin--what a brainchild that is!
And yes, Denise, I'm terrible about planning out the meals. What's helped lately is that I've been on a coupon kick since Jan 1 and at least I seem to have a pantry full of all kinds of stuff I got cheap. Not that I always know what to do with it all (hence my interest in Kristin's tip, lol)
You mean your kids waits until 5:00 to ask what's for dinner? Mine start at 3:00, as soon as I get home from work!
Sorry, I've always been a menu planner. If I go to the store without a list I just kind of wander around and leave without anything really useful. I don't get home from work until 5 every evening and if I don't already know what I'm making, we probably just won't eat, at least not at home. Sounds like a good night to eat out...
I'll share my secret:
frozen pizza :) the perfect people pleaser :)
I'll try that, K! What an ingenious idea! Now to find a recipe that has tomato sauce, chicken, and cream of mushroom soup. LOL
You don't want to ask me this question. I enjoy cooking way too much. For me it's like therapy. Leave me alone in the kitchen with some veggies and a knife to cut them up with. In an hour or so you'll have a great meal and I'll feel so much better :)
If only my family were as lucky. I loathe cooking and if I can get out of it I will, lol!!
I may have a solution for you. I have a small dry erase board in my kitchen and when I have used my last cream of mushroom or whatever, it immediately goes on my list, this is great with everything, like detergents, toothbrushes, cleaning supplies, etc.
By the end of the week I have a long list to go by and am able to plan a little ahead.
Great idea Leticia! I like yours too, Jaime. LOL
My friend has a service I've learned to love: www.simplefamilysuppers.com. Her goal is to take the stress out of supper -- cause I'm a lot like you. I hate grocery shopping, meal planning is not my idea of fun. and I hate hitting 5 o'clock and not having a clue. She has a free week menu up there you can try: calendar, menus, and shopping list. We've really enjoyed most of the recipes.
