Girls Write Out

My love affair with sprinkles began, like most people, when I was a child. I think it's one of those things you're supposed to outgrow, but it never happened for me. I have no idea what the they're made of, but we all need a little rainbow, crunchy happiness in our lives, don't we?

I still love candy too, but maturity prevents me from indulging in a Kit Kat fest--most of the time. Don't even get me started on the Peeps and Candy Corn.

And then there's Valentines Day. I can hardly forget it since it's tomorrow. I've forbidden Kevin from buying me chocolate, but I did buy it for my sons, and we all know what will happen when the kids go to bed, right? Or maybe it's just me.

What does your Valentine get you for V-Day?

Happy Valentines Day! A whole day of love and sappiness. . . what more could a romance writer want? But if you've ever been in a relationship, you know love is more than a one-day flight of fancy. It's a year-round feat!

So, to help along those lines, here's a terrific and fast quiz to help you (and your significant other) know what your "Love Language" is. It comes from Gary Chapman's wonderful book "The Five Love languages".

Take the quiz (it only takes a minute) and have your loved one take it too, then compare notes. You might just be surprised--and better armed to meet each other's needs the other 364 days of the year. :-)

I've watched every season of American Idol except the first, but my favorite was season 5. Chris Daughtry, Katharine McPhee, Taylor Hicks, and of course, Mandisa. Although I've had my favorite contestants every season, I confess I've only voted once: for Mandisa when she braved Simon's ridicule to sing "Shackles".

So I was excited when I found out Kevin had gotten front row tickets for a Valentines Mandisa Concert. It was such a treat to worship side by side with my sweetie and hear Mandisa not only sing but pour our her heart with such transparency.

I was already blessed, but then we found out we had backstage passes. Kevin ran to the car for a copy of Sweetwater Gap and I gave it to Mandisa after the show and told her what a blessing she's been to me.

All that and a box of Debrand too. I'd say that was a pretty great Valentines Day.
