COLLEEN, PROFESSIONAL DOG WASHER
Yep, you heard it here first. I'm about to embark on my new dog-washing career. This is my gorgeous daughter Kara and my grandpup Parker at Kara's dog wash business, See Spot Clean (www.SeeSpotClean.com) located in Goodyear AZ. We're flying out to see her on Thursday and I'm going to roll up my sleeves and wash my first dog on Friday.

I have to admit I'm a little nervous. I've prided myself on not needing to color my hair yet even though I'm the old one of the bunch here. What if the experience turns me white-headed overnight? It may traumatize me to clip my first dog. What if I make a poodle look like a chihuahua? I should ask for all the short-haired dogs. I surely can't do too much damage to them.

I'd ask you to pray for me, but maybe you'd better pray for the dogs. And Kara. I may run her out of business in one weekend. That would be very bad. But it should be good fodder for my books, don't you think? As long as no one murders me after the I ruin their dog's cut, we'll be good.

But I know what will really happen. Kara will let me wash my first dog and when I get soap in the poor thing's eyes, she will relegate me to the office checking the animals in. I'm hoping to find the next dog character for my new book. I'm thinking it just might be my cousin's Yorkie. . .

Before I sign off, I want to let you know I just had my website redesigned. Jason Webster of Website Ministries did it for me, and it's AWESOME! He put a forum up and everything. You can use the forum to discuss anything you like, not just my books. Let me know what you think!

And remember to pray that I don't get dog bit.

Many many years ago I worked at a hair salon (as receptionist) and one day they thought they'd let me shampoo some hair...I started with a little girl who was terrified that I'd get shampoo in her eyes so I promised her that I wouldn't.

I then proceeded to pump out the shampoo into my hand. But the pump didn't work. So I tried it again, harder this time and again...until it finally unclogged itself and shot out of the dispenser across my hand over to her face and across her open eyes. Not only did I break my promise to that sweet little girl but she got a big dose of concentrated shampoo.

She was probably scarred for life....

Man, I love dogs. I just went to a dog show this past weekend, and it was almost senses overload -- too many dogs, too little time!

I hope the business goes really well for your daughter, Colleen.

I hope you have a wonderful time with family. I just checked out your website and I really like it. But the best part was looking at your upcoming appearances page and seeing that you'll be at my college, Manchester, in January! I can't wait!

I LOVE your new site Colleen!
Best of luck with those dogs. My dog is really in need of a good grooming. Too bad it's such a long drive. :)

Love the pic! We have a golden retriever named Molly B. Good (we're hoping her name will inspire her to behave well). Have fun washing dogs! Sounds like an adventure!

Oh sheesh, Suzanne, you were supposed to help allay my fears not add to them! LOL Some friend you are.

Jennifer, how old is Molly? I just LOVE goldens. Parker is the sweetest dog. Now I know why people rave about them.

Katherine, you're a fellow Wabash Co resident? How cool!

Bethanie, I think I'll get wet rather than dirty. LOL Though I may be in the office getting her set up with a database. LOL

Glad you all like the new site!

We have a dog who is part ridge back...he is deathly afraid of water of any sort. He won't even walk through puddles.

Oh my word! Colleen, all you needed to do was let me know. You should see my new puppy! Talk about a character. He even gives my dh wet willies! He thinks he's a cat, and lays on the back of the couch. That should be really interesting when he's full grown and 225 pounds. He's an English Mastiff. Ask Angie Hunt about them - she has 2.

LOL Check out my blog at www.anemulligan.blogspot.com I posted nwq photos today.

Ane, my uncle has a mastiff too. Ben is a HORSE. Literally, he's as big as a pony.

Angie adores her mastiffs! They sure are cute puppies. But mastiffs drool. I love dogs but drool, not so much. LOL

I'm behind on reading thanks to my trip, but had to comment:

LOVE your new website. It looks terrific!

As for dogs and grooming: we have two standard poodles and we started out by grooming them, but it took alllllll day. We now let someone else do the backbreaking work. :) In fact, my boys: Harley and Davey (named after Harley Davidson) have an appointment tomorrow. :)

Oh and about dog drool - YUCK! Love dogs, but not so much the drool.
