EXCITING WEEK
I'm about to embark on a weekend of being tremendously pampered, at least that's what I hear from people who have gone on this excursion before. I've been invited on the big Meijer author tour, sponsored by Levy. There are over 20 authors going on a big luxury bus to 8 stores in 5 cities in Michigan. But I have to admit to being a teensy bit torn. Okay, more than a teensy bit. I'm missing the ACFW conference, the highlight of my year! And I'm CEO so that's a big deal for me to miss. But even more than the conference, my granddaughter is due two weeks today and it's possible I'll have to be ready to make a flying trip back home. Luckily, I'm never more than 3 hours by car where we're going in Michigan. But can you say nail biting time?

But back to the subject. Many of these other authors are NY Times bestsellers so to say I'm a little intimidated is putting it mildly. I've been freaking out over what to wear and what readers will expect when they come see me at Meijers. But my friends to the rescue! I asked Kristin's opinion about what purse to buy because we all know the purse makes the woman. She went out shopping and walked into a Brighton store where she found the most perfect purse ever! She overnighted it to me, and I barely let it out of my sight! So it's the anchor of my wardrobe as I've been buying stuff. And the really cool thing? I've dropped a pant size! Now that might not seem like much to you, but my hips are the LAST place I lose usually. So this leptin resistance thing is really work. My aunt and mother mentioned last week that I'd lost a lot of weight. In reality it's only 15 pounds so far, but it LOOKS like more which makes me happy. Anyway, I got a shiny leather jacket (red), a black leather jacket, some cute tops for under to wear with some of my other favorite jackets. I'll blog this weekend about how it's going.

This is the first time I've ever built a wardrobe around a purse, but you know what? I think it works! Now I understand K's obsession with bags. She just might have passed it along to me, just like she did with coffee so many years ago! I'd thank you, K, but now I have to find the perfect pair of shoes. . . You've just created a monster. A very expensive one! But now it's shoe time. I've got some trouser jeans and some slacks. Here are my jackets: royal blue, black leather, red leather, tan. I've got various tops to wear over them. What would be your nomination for the perfect shoe? Here is my bag:http://www.brightonretail.com/store/wishlist.php?m=product_detail&p=H3078P. it's a silver metallic color, a dark gray/bronzy kind of color. Very slick! But give me some advice!

Sounds like a good reason to buy new clothes! I am not much of a purse girl so I can't imagine building my wardrobe around one. I have a terrible time finding a purse I like. UGH.

Congrats on the weight loss! 15 lbs is 15 lbs!

Enjoy the tour and safe travel! Hope that grandchild waits until you get home so you don't miss a thing.

Oh, I would love to see you and get my copy of Lonestar Sanctuary signed. (I finished it this Sunday and loved it! Allie was definitely one of my favorite suspense novel protaganists. And the stalker... if I could have stayed up late that weekend I would have just to find out who it was before I went to bed!)

But alas, I don't live near Michigan. Sigh. But my prayers are with you for safe travel. And I'm glad you're having fun picking out outfits.

Congratulations on the 15 lbs!

I can't believe that the grandbaby is coming so soon. It seems like just a few weeks since you announced it on the blog. It sounds so exciting, but it must be awful waiting. : )

Blessings!

Have a wonderful time on tour. I'm going to miss seeing you at the ACFW Conference.

Here's a true story: This Saturday I went to my esthetician and told her I needed an upper lip and chin waxing, ASAP. She asked what the emergency was. My response: I may run into Colleen Coble this week, and she always notices errant hairs on chins and lips. LOL.

See? I read your blog post from a few months ago, and it stuck with me. Anyway, if anyone checks me out, backlit by the sun or a bright light, they'll find my face to be hair-free.

Thanks for the chuckle. See you next year at the conference.

A prisoner of hope,
Megan

I'd go trouser jeans with red jacket (to prove you have massive amounts of confidence and you're bold and totally worth that purse that looks great against red!)... ok so that's my fasion advice. I'll let Kristin confirm it enthusiastically or go into cardic arrest if I've just proven to be a true non-fashionista! :)

I'm SO EXCITED for you for EVERYTHING!! 15 lbs is a big deal - and don't get me started on how excited I am for that first little grandbaby to enter the world to see you!! :)

Have fun ... and just know ... I never read NY Times Bestsellers. really, I don't. So you already have the upper hand in my book!

Smiles!

Don't worry, girls, I'll be hanging out to hug some necks before I go. Megan, I CRACKED UP about the face waxing!

Thanks for the advice and the prayers, Jaime! The shiny leather jacket is way cool. I'll have to get a pic in it.

Congratulations - on the tour, on the weight loss and on the soon-to-arrive baby!!

I just finished reading Abomination and thought it was GREAT. It kept me guessing, and kept me reading. Looking forward to reading more of your books!! :)

Ok, I can't possibly offer any advice or useful tips regarding fashion. I've owned the same purse for going on 3 years (it was a gift from Jane Seymour, one of my clients) and I never coordinate shoes and purses with my clothing. I just select a purse and if it doesn't "go", I don't care. :)

Ok, someone revive poor Kristin, because I know she's gone into shock or is suffering from vapor-like breathing. LOL!

What I will say is you'll be missed for the majority of the conference, but I'm thrilled you'll be there for the start. Stu and I arrive Wednesday.

Also, congrats on the 15 lbs. gone and the soon-to-arrive grandbaby. I hear it's a first? We'll be giving the same to my parents in about 6 months. :) Enjoy it, Grandma Colleen!

Hi, I love your books! I just looked up your blog for the first time. I enjoyed Alaskan Twilight and Midnight Sea! I recently read both of those. I'm a non-fiction blogger mostly writing Christian apologetics articles. I hope to be published one day.

Hi, Colleen,

I'll miss seeing you at ACFW--partly because I won't be there, either. Talk about being a grandma--congratulations!--I've overdone it this year, with my four, put the writing on the back burner for a short season, and am going to sit this one out.

So, I'll see you four in Denver next year.

I was going to bring _Anathema_ for you to sign. I loved that story!

Congratulations on the 15 pounds. And enjoy that precious grandchild. Can't wait for you to cuddle it!
