A NEW ERA BEGINS
I'm a grandma! Finally and at long last. One of my friends, Carol Cox, mentioned that as long as she's known me, over 10 years, I've longed for a grandchild. I'd like to introduce you all to Alexa Grace. Born about 6:10 pm yesterday and weighing in at 7 lb 14 oz and 20 inches long, she's already got us wrapped around her little finger. And those fingers are LONG. So are her feet. I bet she wears a size 1 already. She's all filled out and smells delicious! She hasn't had her bath yet in these pics so has goop in her eyes and her hair is matted with vernix. I dug out our son's newborn picture and she looks quite a lot like him. The nose is different but her eyes, cheeks, chin and mouth look very much like him. Hairline too. But she's her own person and I'm eager to get to know her!

Donna had an easy time of it and Alexa came so fast, she was a little shocky and the nurses aspirated her fast and got her moving. When I saw Dave crooning "Baby Girl" to his new daughter in his arms, it was a moment I'll never forget. She already has us all wrapped around her finger. Donna looked beautiful and so happy. Alexa was making noises but the minute her daddy took her, she quieted down and went to sleep. So darling to watch!

I had another blog post all prepared about my big weekend on the tour bus but I couldn't wait to share the good news with my blogging buddies!

C, she's lovely. I can see why Stevie Wonder wrote a song about his baby girl. "Isn't she lovely, isn't she wonderful..."

I got teary eyed when you wrote about Dave crooning to her.

I have a girl dog and am seeing what a difference she makes. China is crazy for not wanting more girls in their world!

Keep the picks coming!

Hugs to you Grandma!

Rachel

So true, Rachel! Nothing like a baby girl! She looks a lot like both my kids. Auntie Kara will be over the moon about her.

Awwww, too adorable! Congrats to all, and what a beautiful name.

Makes me wish these next 6 months would fly by so I can hold my little one in my arms instead of in my tummy. :)

My parents will be first-time grandparents with this one too. If their excitement is any indication, I can understand the joy you feel, Colleen.

Colleen!!! Believe it or not, I did NOT hear you screaming all the way in Kansas. But I did squeal with delight when I saw this post! I'm SOOOO excited for you! And she is a GORGEOUS baby! I can't wait to watch her grow up! But not too fast! Congratulations to all of you! I'm so glad she waited until you got home!

Awwww, congratulations! She's adorable! I, too, love that brand-new baby smell. It's one that you can never forget.

So what's it going to be...grandma? Grammy? Nana? Mamaw? Any which way, it's apparent that little baby is going to be showered with love and attention from her grammy!

Again, congratulations!

Thanks for the congrats, friends! I think I'm going to have her call me Grammy.

Isn't it hard to pick a name, Deb? I thought about Mimi. It's really cute. That's what Dave's brother's grandkids call their grandma.

Mimi is very modern and darling. I just didn't know what to use. LOL
