Girls Write Out
Wednesday, December 31, 2008

Hey, I'm getting new author photos taken this weekend with a fabulous photographer nearby. Should I dress professional? Or like me? Any ideas on colors? Should I straighten my hair or leave it curly. Any and all ideas considered. Be my stylist.

Oh my gosh, I got these FABULOUS Donald Pliners that match my navy purse and jeans. That's definitely a consideration. The man is a shoe god.

I think you should wear something sparkly. :)

I think you should dress like you do all the time. You have your own great style that you should show off.

Happy New Year!

Hmmm. Sparkly or slob. I'm thinking maybe sparkly. I hadn't thought of sparkly. I have a great pink cashmere sweater with rhinestones. May have to steal it back from my daughter.

Sparkly clothes, yes. And the second picture looks more like your books, in my opinion. I love the straight hair.

Will they be taking pics of your shoes?? lol...

Seriously, probably flat ironed hair and something spunky, like you (i.e., no pearls :)

Happy New Year!

Your own style, but hair curly.

I think you should wear your bathrobe and slippers. OOo, did I say that out loud?

Hmmm, go Kristin Billerbeck. Jeans and a jacket. I love that look, especially on you. But wear shoes. The barefoot thing is sooo done. ;)

You have great taste Kristin. I know the pics will be fabulous!

I like both looks, but I'm partial to the straight hair. And I agree with Rachel, if you don't do the bathrobe, do the jeans! :D

My suggestion is straight hair, sassy, California-girl look. Please just don't wear something that's got a lot of pattern to it. You want people to zero in on your face, not a loud sweater.

And wear a great smile!

Have fun, be a diva -- it's allowed when your having professional portraits taken.

Rachel, why on earth would I ever go barefoot?? There are too many great shoes with my name on them. Actually, Donald Pliner's name and Taryn Rose's name and...

Okay, I'm doing straight and I will lose my geek glasses, and I like the jeans/jacket look. Now, do I have one that sparkles?

I think I should put on my pearls to say SERIOUS STUDENT of LITRAH-TURE. Or not.

colleen, spoken like my true peep. LOL I wish Amber was here (Diann's daughter) then my photos might look like Denise's!

Minus the blonde bombshell thing and all.

I think keep the glasses to look like an accessory I think its just makes people seem studious and who love to read. I like your hair straight but I agree with the sparkle it part of who your are.

I'm with Colleen on both colors for you and that you always look great.

I do like for you: 1. no glasses
2. jacket and jeans 3. great shoes 4. Straightened hair (for this length of hair for you--if it were longer, you might try curly)

The white shirt is actually a good look for you, too. I like the casual poses, too, for you.

Hey, belts are in. Could you throw in a great belt with your jeans?

My vote is same as Crystal's.

Kristen,
I think you should dress in whatever outfit you feel most fabulous in - be yourself definitely! Not sure about colors - I'd have to see pictures. I'm not too crazy about the orange in these pictures. Like the black better than the beige. I think I like the straight hair better, but not sure if I like that look better because you don't have glasses on. The outfit you describe at the end sounds like a definite possibility. Thanks for entertaining our opinions - this is fun :-)

Thanks gals. I did my photos today. It turned out DH didn't want me to change, so I took the family photo and the headshot in my salmon Ann Taylor loft shirt, that I already have a million pictures in because I wore it to the Christy's. LOL But it matched what Elle wanted to wear.

I straightened my hair. We had a great time, and it's over. That's the best part.

I like the straight hair and defo' something sparkly.

I just got through your Ashley Stockingdale books in about 5 days and ordered Spa Girls series last night. Love your writing!

I'm not reading what anyone else wrote until I post my comment :)

Because you write characters that are so fashion conciense (oh dear, I can't spell that word EVER), you need to be _very_ fashionable in your picture, BUT since fashions change from season to season, it should be a classic fashion statement, which can usually be found in the professional realm of clothing.

And yes, you need to wear your nicest shoes :)
