Fun question, Diann! My Mom was quiet, worked hard at home and at her job...I am thinking put Ma Ingalls but more in the 1950's as one of Lucy and Ethel's friends.
BTW, I am just pages away from finishing re-reading Hot Flashes and Cold Cream, and have loved it again! Maggie still teaches me!
Have a great day!
Oh, Beverly, you're so sweet! Thank you for that encouragement today!!
Your mom sounds wonderful!
My Mom always reminded me of a cross between June Cleaver (the quintessential 1950's housewife) and Carol Brady (minus Alice). We had 6 kids growing up and our house was always busy and chaotic, yet my Mom seemed to always hold it together and we always felt loved and cared for. It's times like this I miss her most but I'm SO glad she is whole and happy in Heaven!
My mom taught elementary and junior high art, social studies, and science for 30 years. She was a fantastic teacher and a good artist. She is still a great person: funny, full of fun ideas, supportive, kind, and stylish at 83. She has the gift of hospitality and generosity. She calls me once a week--and has done that every week since I moved to Turkey 20+ years ago. I have one great mom! This summer we'll be in the States with her for two whole weeks! Cool, huh?! Yay!!!!
My mom would be June Cleaver!
Hmm. I think my mom is June Cleaver and I am Roseanne Barr.
Do you remember the show Alice? My mom was a single mother just like her and worked like a slave to keep me and my sisters fed, clothed etc. However, unlike Alice my mom made sure that we knew the Lord.
So, maybe my mom was a combination of Olivia Walton and Alice.
HAPPY MOTHERS DAY!!
Wow, Leticia, what a neat thing to say about your mom!
Kristin, you are so NOT Roseanne Barr!
I'm surprised at all the June Cleavers. I didn't think anybody dressed like that for dinner! *g*
Okay, well in truth, my mom didn't cook so well, and she dressed badly, but she was nice like that and always shoving food I didn't want in my face.
If not Roseanne Barr, then I'm Bernie Mac. : )
Diann, I could write a book on my mom. She is my greatest inspiration. She is indeed my heroine. She suffered and worked so hard for me and my sisters and I regret so many things I put her through.
Thank GOD! For her fervent prayers or I wouldn't be here today.
