Girls Write Out

Remember prom? Shopping for weeks for just the right dress, browsing magazines for the perfect upsweep, planning your makeup, jewelry, undergarments, nail polish and of course . . . the shoes.

That was my prom experience.

My son's? 10 minutes in the tux shop for measurements, one 2 minute pick-up, and $92.00 later, we're ready for prom.

It really is a different world for males.

Easier? Maybe. But I remember the anticipation and excitement from the planning, the dreaming, the choosing. Boys may have it easier, but I don't think we girls would do it any other way.

PS This is my handsome son on prom night.

I have a daughter, age 4 and a son, age 2....it'll be great to have both experiences, someday! Although, with all the angst we have over what to wear to PRESCHOOL, for pity's sake, I can't even anticipate what a formal dance will be like!

Your son looks so confident and (I can't help it) clean! You've gotta love clean...

Good job on the boy!

A double-decker prom BUS picked up prom kids from our neighborhood last night. The girls were dressed to the 9s, of course, as were the boys (rented tuxes and all). So funny to see that big red bus though, ha.

Your son's handsome! And wasn't it great you didn't have to stress over what he was to wear? My daughter's a freshman, so my time's a comin'! (Only I vote for a limo ...)

Your son looks very handsome. You must be so proud!

My son and his girlfriend went to prom on Saturday evening. He looked smashing in his tux. You're right about his prep work--choose tux, get fitted, pay, pickup. His GF made her dress. It was gorgeous. They made a beautiful couple. I won't be disappointed if they spend the rest of their lives together...but not for several years, yet. :-)

He looks so grown up! And he stands like Kevin. LOL

Ah, prom, I remember it well. The trauma, the feelings of unworthiness. LOL

I think he's pretty durn handsome too. :-)

C, I didn't even notice until you said it, but you're right. He is standing like Kevin.

And yes, prom can be quite traumatic for girls especially.

Denise,

He does indeed look sharp! Even dapper! We are a ways down from that road, with our oldest being 6.

I just have to ask: is the picture taken in your home? The wood is beautiful!! Is it a log house? I almost hate to hear your answer....I mean then I might have jealousy and wood envy and all that. :-)

Congratulations on this milestone with your son!

Beverly

LOL! Yes, Beverly, at the risk of provoking jealousy, that is our house and yes, it's log.

Wow. Denise, it is just beautiful!!!

Note to self: "Be content with what you have. Be content with what you have. Be content with what you have." :-)

No, really, we have a very nice home. The neat woodwork just caught my attention. And for all the beauty of it, I know your son(s) is/are the highlight of your life!

(Still....I wonder if Jesus is taking wish lists for those mansions He's making? :-) )
