Girls Write Out
Sunday, November 01, 2009

It's not too often I get jazzed about a TV show, but I have to say, I'm pretty excited about Castle. I knew from the pre-season previews I had to check it out. I mean, come on, it's about an author. For those of you haven't treated yourself to this Monday night show, here's the premise:

Rick Castle, best-selling author of murder mysteries, shadows NYPD homicide detective Kate Beckett for inspiration for his current protagonist. Along the way, Castle helps solve crimes and is a thorn in the side to Beckett, who's forced by the mayor to put up with his presence. Add Castle's sweet, responsible teenaged daughter and a flightly actress mother, and the show has a well-rounded and entertaining cast.

Now, does the show have some plausibility problems? Well, yeah, I admit it would be helpful if they showed the guy, uh, writing every now and then. But with the witty humor, charming personalities, fast-paced suspense, and loads of tension between Castle and Beckett, hey, I'll get over the plausibility issues. It's my must see show of the week. You might give it a try tonight.

Also interesting, the book Castle supposedly wrote on the show, "Heat Wave", is now an actual book by "Rick Castle" and is on the NYT best-seller list. What a genius marketing move!

What are your can't miss shows of the season?

I can't miss "NCIS" on Tuesday nights, as well as "CSI:NY" on Wednesday nights & "Numb3rs" on Friday nights. There are some other shows that I tape on the DVR, but I try to watch these three shows "live" when they are on because I really enjoy them.

We just watched our first Castle episode last night, Denise. We get it from Netflix. Very interesting. I find myself saying, "Oh, yeah, that would be good." And seeing James Patterson and Steve Cannell cameo appearances was too cool! I also like House, just finished Dr. Quinn Medicine Woman seasons, and am also watching NCIS. All on netflix.

My husband and I love this show too. But yeah, I agree, it would be nice to see him actually writing, too!

We love Castle. I don't normally get hooked on cop/detective dramas, but this one is really good. Probably because he's an author (but yeah, you're right- when is he writing?).

We are faithful Office watchers in our house and have become unexpectedly hooked on Community. I guess we just like that quirky, oddball humor. :)

I know--I thought that was a great strategy. I do have to wonder when he has time to write though. At first I wasn't too sure about the show, but I've really come to enjoy it. The writing humor makes me laugh.

I'm a HUGE fan of LOST. HUGE. I cannot wait until January!

They showed him writing a couple times in season 1, I am pretty sure.

Castle is so definitely a No Miss--except I missed last week and am heartbroken.
But not tonight! This show is genius!
I'm also a fan a 24 so if you want to talk implausible. . . but still. . .

I love "Castle" too! "NCIS" is my absolute MUST-SEE show of the week, but "Castle" is a close second. I love the lightness and humor - and the relationship with Castle and his daughter. Adorable.

My only complaint is that it's on at 10:00 EST.

We love Castle at our house too. I love the relationship he has with the females in his life and the fact his daughter always comes up with the solving clues.

I'm loving Castle here too. I watch it on Hulu while I'm folding the church bulletins every Thursday. The only show I actually sit down at home and watch on a regular basis is The Office (so very funny!) Other than that I don't have time to watch TV.

I'm a hard core and go for Criminal Minds. But then, I'm not THAT hardcore because I can't watch it if I'm home alone. I need my DH next to me because the murders are always brutal.

Aside from CM, I'm a 24 junkie. Just ask my coworkers.=0)

I love NCIS. I have to watch it every Tuesday and the Mentalist is one of my favorites. I have to watch Criminal Minds on Wednesday nights also. Those are my three main shows I love to watch. :)

Hi!
I haven't seen this show, "Castle" but unless I am taping two at that time already, I will try it next week.

My all time favorite is "Amazing Race". Just the theme music gets my heart racing -- love to watch the interactions between people.

I like, "Lie To Me", again people thing. Of course NCIS & NUMBERS, 18 Kids and counting, God bless that mother, and yes, I even like "Dog the Bounty Hunter". I have been watching how his walk with the Lord has grown in the last couple of years even with all the things they have been through.

Old movies are always good in the middle of the night! The problem is I 'nap' instead of sleep and have to keep backtracking to see all of the movie!

Our cable system has 'channels on demand', and CBS and NBC carry all the episodes of their primetime shows. I wish ABC also was on their list. It really helps if I forget to watch it or too many recordings and it gets 'skipped'!

Have a great day!
Cheri

I record a few TV shows to watch, when not writing or reading: NCIS, MI-5, The Mentalist, The Big Bang Theory, and Lie To Me. I will have to try Castle.
