Girls Write Out
Thursday, January 06, 2011

I woke up in a blue funk this morning. Hey, it happens. The sky is grey and gloomy. I got bad news on the health of three friends this week. Guess it just all added up.

But here's the thing. I refuse to stay there. Mood swings are a part of life. We can stay there or we can do something about it. When I'm "down," these are the things I do to get back up:

--Read God's Word.
--Pray.
--Help someone else.
--Listen to uplifting music.
--Eat chocolate.
--Trip a little old lady as she's crossing the street.

Okay, the last one was just to see if you were still awake. Sorry. I couldn't help myself. See, I'm feeling better already! :-)

So what do YOU do when life gets you down?

I am surprised at your list. I didn't see chocolate between every item. You must be losing your taste for it. Maybe I misunderstood that you were eating chocolate while doing all the other things.

LOL, Dave!!! I almost DID that--wrote chocolate between every line! LOL!

Congrats on your retirement! :-)

Oh, sure, now that he's retired, he has time for us.

Happy retirement, Dave! (That's Colleen's hubby, for those who don't know.)

Yay, Dave!!! Congratulations! Time to celebrate! (Although I'm pretty sure we're actually talking to Colleen. Isn't she using his computer right now?)
To cheer myself up, I email happy friends.

When I'm down (or even grouchy) I write on my blog or draw or listen to worship music. Drawing is the best medicine, though. I ALWAYS feel better, even if I throw the picture away because it didn't turn out.

Me I watch comedies, and it's usually the little old ladies doing the tripping ;). Listen to music, eat chocolate and read fiction.

I have a dance party. Or just a gold old fashioned cry fest followed by a whole lot of coffee! :)
