Girls Write Out

Just wanted to remind you, tomorrow is--drum roll--tax day.

I know, I know, I could have gone all day without reminding you of that. We finally got our taxes done a week ago and received good news this year! We actually get something back. Course, I have to put it into savings to pay for taxes throughout next year. There's something very wrong about all that, don't you think? Believe me, if hubby weren't considering retiring, that money would go for something fun--like a year's supply of chocolates or, dare I say it, a year's membership at the local gym. Wait. That's not fun. Come to think of it, we could use new carpet . . . .

So I'm curious. If you are fortunate enough to get money back on your taxes, do you pay off bills, go on vacation, buy new furniture, or stuff the money under your mattress??????

P.S. Please excuse our dog's messy look in the picture. She desperately needs groomed but I've been too sick to take her in. Hopefully, soon! Anyway, I'm sitting in a chair and our dog and cat (my mother's cat that we took in) are both squishing me in. THIS is how I try to write. LOL! Can anyone relate?

Did you HAVE to bring up taxes? LOL I just finished mine. I have to pay. Good thing I went on vacation first!

When we get back a refund, I usually like to go on a trip with hit. I try to go to where the next book will be set so I can research. I'm so boring. LOL

You are too passive agressive. Tell them to GET DOWN! :) YOU are the alpha. . .remember that. LOL

LOL, Amber! You tell her! You might remind me of that, too, since my four cats are bad about that.

Diann, we always have to file a month early because we have LLCs, and they're due March 15. We got refund this year, and are waiting to see if we'll need that for a down payment on a house.

We owed a nice chunk this year. So big it wiped out our "Dave Ramsey emergency fund" plus a little more. Made me very sad to write that check.

Who knew that when your child turned 17 you lost the $1,000 tax credit on them. And then there was that whole other problem that multiplied the amount we owed.

I think I need chocolate.

I pay my taxes quarterly which allows our family with my DH's income to get some money back. I work with my accountant to try to not own anything or get anything back, but this year I paid too much in~WOW! I could've bought those shoes;) Anyways, we just put it in a savings account...I KNOW, BORING!

Oh, bummer, Suzanne! I wish I could pass some chocolate to you through the computer screen. :-)

The flip side of that was that you had the money to be able to pay the taxes. Okay, I'll shut up and pass the chocolate now.

This year, we had to pay. BIG time. We took money out of the retirement account (we are retired) to pay for our kitchen remodel. We left the tax money in there to grow and knew it was coming, but it still hurt to write that check. However, I love my kitchen, so that helps take the sting out.

As far as your writing companions, they're sweet. If Shadrach did that ... LOL

Jel-
You are right. Everyone has until the 18th to file. I am an accountant, and not too sure how I feel about the extended deadline right now. :)

So the extension for the new tax day from now on? I mean, has it changed from April 15th to the 18th now? I didn't know that! Thanks for the heads up, Jel and Rachel!

As far as who rules, the dog or the cat? The dog rules over me and the cat rules over the house. :-)

Sorry for the late post...am trying to catch up.

April 15th is the most wonderful day on the calendar for me. It's the day that my love and I got married! So this year we are celebrating our 33rd wedding anniversary...and it was a great day!

That being said, we ALWAYS get our taxes done early...don't want to mess with them on our special day. This year we got $$ back and it went to pay bills and one dinner out. Wish it was that way every year!
