Thank you all SO much for your prayers for Di. It's been a rough week for her and those of us who love her so much, but the good news is that she's now in Zion at the Cancer Treatment Center. She sees a doctor tomorrow about her MALT lymphoma in her stomach, then her primary ovarian cancer doctor later in the week, unless that gets moved up. While we would have liked for the thing in her stomach to be nothing, the next best thing is this MALT. If it's caused by the h-pylori bacteria, it will be cured with antibiotic! And there is much good news on the horizon with ovarian cancer treatment as well. God isn't through with Di yet, and we will get on the other side of this beast yet!
Di's constant faith and love for God is such an inspiration to me personally. Denise and I went to see her on Thursday. We laughed so much I know the nurses were popping in just to see what was going on. Unfortunately there was no morphine button for me to push, but Denise was on her guard so she could stop me from touching anything I wasn't supposed to. LOL I kept my hands folded in my lap, really! :)
We were sitting there talking and all of a sudden, Di says, "No stinkin' way!" I think she yelled loud enough to blow out the door. There stood her son Aaron and his family. During the course of the visit, the family was talking about why this was all happening. son-in-law Kyle said, "I know why. God said, Have you considered my servant Diann?" When I heard about that, I knew it was exactly right. We may not understand why God allows this pain into our Di's life, but God knows. And with her faith and spirit, she is advancing the kingdom of God. She is an example to all of us who watch her steadfast heart and love. Of course my husband is such a joker that he said Kyle was trying to score brownie points but still. :) He was totally right!
I felt so much better after seeing her. I called our friend and editor Ami McConnell to tell her what was going on so she could keep up the prayers. She said, "You sound better today." And the weird thing was that I DID feel better. I got to talk to the doctor, find out what exactly was going on and what was being done. I felt like I was DOING something, even though I wasn't. LOL It's all in the perception.
So what helps you when you're going through a trial like this? Feeling like you're doing something? Praying? Taking in soup? When someone you love is in the middle of the battle, what kind of help fills your well and empowers you?

We know you all love Diann too so I wanted to bring you up to date on what's going on with her. She's in the hospital. They did tests this morning and found her stomach is totally ulcerated. Poor girl hasn't been able to keep anything down in 2 weeks! They also found some kind of growth or "something" that didn't look normal down by the opening to her small intestine. The doc took a biopsy and we'll know more soon. But at least we know what is going on and they will come up with a plan to fix it!
She's in good spirits and is eager to get well. So pray for her and for the doctors to figure out how to help. Love you, Di!

I have to admit I was upset with God this past week. On Friday when news came that Di's cancer was back, I felt betrayed. I argued with God saying, "But you led us to Cancer Treatment Center of America. I know you did. And now this?" I railed and cried and was generally a total mess.
Thankfully, God is big enough to love me when I question Him. Our pastor's message on Sunday was about how our happiness on earth is not God's goal. We're on the path to heaven and God is making us more like Christ before we get there. But heaven is our final destination. This life is such a blip on the radar of eternity. And none of us knows which of us is going to get there first. A car accident or something else could take us on home at any moment.
There's a Petra song that I love. The lyrics are below. The part is red is my favorite part and it's a good reminder to me right now that this journey isn't all there is. That we are to expect trouble and heartache because we are pilgrims here. Just because it comes doesn't mean God doesn't love us.
Tomorrow Dave and I are taking Di to Zion, to the Cancer Treatment Center. Pray for her and her family. This is so hard on Jim and the kids. And pray for wisdom for the doctor. I believe that God is allowing this so that we will see His power as He miraculously heals her. :) We've made a pact that whoever gets to heaven first will put a down payment on the mansion next door. And you know what? In light of eternity, that moment when we're reunited with our loved ones will be like a second. My grandparents and my brother are there too. When I get there, they'll say, "Are you here already? I just got here and barely had a chance to look around."

GREAT MOMENTS IN WRITING HISTORY...
Okay, so maybe you won't hear about it in 300 years and my Ashley Stockingdale is no Scarlett O'Hara, but for me, the great writing moments are measured in wonderful times spent outside this box of an office with great friends. We discuss writing. We travel to great places (here we are in Carmel, CA) and we live large at restaurants.
Above on the left is Diann Hunt with the long hair. And that's no wig, doesn't she look cute? I totally think you should go for the Jennifer Aniston look now Di. I mean it's a perfect excuse to be a redhead or relive our Farrah Fawcett/Christie Brinkley days, when we were totally the WRONG coloring, you know what I'm saying.
Then, there's Carol Cox, Kristin Billerbeck and Judith Miller.
I remember these great moments like they were yesterday. Right after this, we went to pick up our future editor, Ami McConnell at the San Jose Airport. I have some prettier ones of me pregnant, poorly dressed and carrying a passport holder rather than a Handbag. WHAT?? And Denise is carrying a briefcase. ROFLOL Colleen looks the same. Got any great moments you'd like to forget in pictures? LOL And don't you love how Facebook lets people post them publicly?

STARTING THE WEEK
Well we're here in Zion. Our room is wonderful! I brought my Cuisinart coffee maker because we can face anything this week if we have good coffee. It was a good call because there was NO coffee maker in the room. Yikes! Now granted, I could go across the hall and down the steps to the rec room and get some but I like MY coffee. Jim did too but it was a little strong for Di even though I'd weakened it a bit. But she added water and is now fortified for our tour and the doctor visit.
