Girls Write Out
Tuesday, October 02, 2007
I also want to post on the new TV season because I know that's something I hear from you all about. Let's see...the Bachelor. I cannot tell one girl from the next, and couldn't care less. The Bachelor seems lower class than usual, but I'll give you he's hot. But girls, that isn't enough, all right?

Grey's Anatomy -- Christina needs Burke. She's not nearly the character without him and I miss him. The pixie sister of Meredith is almost more annoying than Meredith, and that's difficult from my standpoint. Is it just me or do you want to wash Meredith's hair for her? And I cannot STAND the Izzy/George thing. It's like watching you brother and sister get romantic. Ick.

Ugly Betty -- finally a show that lives up to its first season with its premiere. I SOOO love the dialog in this show and man, do they do a great job making geek, hot. BTW, have you seen Henry (Chris Gorham) as himself? He gives Fresno (where he's from) a good name.

America's Next Top Model -- this show is so stupid, it's entertaining. But the reason I am watching it this year is because they have a model who has Asperger's (my son has this) and I picked her out on the first night easily. But the most entertaining thing? Every day my son eats and orange, and I don't care where he is, that orange peel has been left there. In the car...in the living room...you name it. And all the models were grossed out because the model with Aspergers left her orange peel somewhere. I laughed.

Okay, in truth Grey's and Ugly Betty are the only shows I watch in full. The rest of the season so far, I don't have enough patience for. How bout you? Anything I should be watching that I'm missing? I lost it for Desperate Housewives after the first season.

I love Ugly Betty! I DO also enjoy Psych on USA, but the new season won't start until January. Similarly, I think Eureka on the Sci Fi Channel is good for a laugh, but the season finale is tonight...

You might give Chuck a try. I watched the first 2 episodes and am loving it so far. Life was hilarious but I'm not sure I'll like all the Zen philosophies he's spouting. As for Grey's Anatomy, I was going to give up on it, but decided to give it a bit of chance with the premier. I think the premier was better than most of all of last season.

As for America's Next Top Model.. I have it set for record, but I think I missed an episode. Didn't realize that they had picked the girl with Asperger's! YEAH!!! Maybe now more people will understand that "form" of autism (a friend who all 4 of her kids have some level of it, with the youngest being the worst, is annoyed that its labeled as autism - I don't have an opinion)... all I know is that having gone to an engineering school and knowing lots of engineers, I've realized the need for the education about it.

Whoops. *blushes* I just got on a soapbox. Sorry.

Leslie, what I love about seeing the girl with Aspergers on the show is what i love about my son. He has this Spongebob view of life and he is not phased by peer pressure.

All of the girls are gossiping about the model, and she's just in her own world ignoring them. That's what I loved about how they showed it, is it shows that our ability to relate is really not so evolved if all we can do is gossip with it. The one with Aspergers is the only one worried about herself.

Ok - so I'm watching the Bachelor last night and agree with you, Kristin, all the girls seem the same. I think I'm ditching that show.

America's Next Top Model - photography is one of my serious hobbies so I love watching it for the artistic (that can be questionable at times!) value.

Other than that, I'm stuck on Bones and House which provide more intelligence to me and House always says everything I want to say at my job but can't or I'd find myself kicked to the curb!! :) LOL

Can't wait for the season of 24.

Sorry, Kristin, I haven't watched Ugly Betty :(

The first two episodes of Chuck have been pretty darned good. House is still my only can't miss show.

Again, I agree with Jaime! House and Bones for the intelligence factor, definitely. And I am salivating for the new season of 24, as well as and the return of Psych (darn USA and their mid-season hiatus!).

The Bachelor really disgusts me this season. I would enjoy smacking that guy upside the head. Ooh, and the "Christian" girl that runs around taking her top off? WHAT? I think these girls have watched too many previous seasons of Bachelor.

I like Chuck, I'm just afraid that it's going to get mundane after awhile. We'll see. The Prison Break storyline has finally picked up...I recommend to anyone to watch the first season because it was amazing, read a very short summary of the second season online somewhere since nothing of consequence happened, and pick up with the third season which started out with a bang and is keeping me on my toes.

As for Ugly Betty, I got hooked over the summer and I can't wait to see more of the show. Henry is NOT a bad looking guy...much better than Walter, who gave me the willies.

I watched some of the Bachelor but could not take the skankism. And the phoneyness is obvious.

When Bachelor talked to the girl with the hurt leg/ankle and said, "Feel better" as he walked off, I knew she was cooked.

I'm not into much this season except for college football and The Game. I thought this show was silly last year, but it found it's footing mid season and has turned into a pretty good show.

I like Girlfriends, too.

Otherwise, don't care much. I feel too restless to watch. :)

I did hear Chuck was good.

I think I'm going to have to tune into America's Next Top Model. I have a nephew with Asperger's and that's how my sis-in-law described it... a Spongebob life! Watching SB totally helped me relate, and then came the movie "Napolean Dynamite"... his quotes were right on with my neph's! He just started high school, and I'm so proud of him!

We also have family friends with a son who has it. He's in his early 20's now, and since his dad owns a hobby train shop, trains have been a passion for him all his life. Recently he just joined the circus (I didn't know people still did that)...to, get this, work on the train! It's a perfect fit for him.

Oh, got off the subject of tv shows... sorry. We've watched Survivor over the years, but I haven't checked out this season's yet. Love the Unit.

I will have to watch Chuck, I've heard about that from so many. Oh I do love Monk, too, but I watch that usually in reruns.

Okay, best part of the Bachelor though was when the gal ran out of the hot tub and tossed her top off to the beach and all the girls are in the hot tub saying, "Like I'm sure. This is Bachelor gone wild or something." And they're not looking like complete hoochies in their bikinis in a hot tub around some guy.

I know the view looks different to them about that girl, but from here, not that different actually.

You girls need to watch The Office. It is the funniest show! The boss is a jerk, his sidekick is a geek, the receptionist is adorable and is in love with the office nice guy. The characters are a riot!

I have to agree with Suzanne about The Office, not many shows make me crack up like that one!

I'm not much for reality TV (don't throw tomatoes!) so I can't help you on that front, but have you tried Bionic Woman?

I was surprised by it. It was pretty good. A nice mix of comic book and drama, leaning more towards the drama side.

I think I'm going to have to check Chuck out.

We have been enjoying Monk, Psych and Burn Notice on USA but they are all on hiatus so I gotta find something else to watch on TV...or read more :o)

Boycotting Grey's. Don't like that Burke left, it has been replaced amongst my favorites.

Monk and Psych are pretty darn amusing. And I am a huge fan of The Office. Not everyone can say that...I think you might have to have a few screws loose to love it. But I do. I proudly proclaim to have missing screws and I love The Office.

If you love mockumentaries...oh yeah...and dry and off the wall odd people who say and do bizarre things with camera close ups of onlookers faces...give it a try.

Seriously, I am going to buy the entire DVD set of each season.

I love The Office and 30 Rock. Although I don't care for Alex Baldwin, he's great in this show.
This Bachelor is in now way ready to settle down - he's a party guy. In my opinion.

Did you watch the first episode of Private Practice the spinoff of Grey's Anatomy? It was actually better than I thought. I am watching Grey's for now even though I am still mad at where they have taken the show. I love House MD.I will miss Monk and The Closer untill they come back next season. And do you think they are bringing back Crossing Jordan? That is pretty much all I watch besides Food Tv and HGTV. :)

Oh I wanted to watch Private Practice, I have to see when it's on. With Tivo, I never know. I love the office, but my husband doesn't get it, so I gave up watching it.

But I'm a huge mockumentary fan in general. He did like "Best in Show" which surprised me.

My favorite is Army Wives. Wowser. Good characterization in all the women. I've always been a big Monk fan (maybe because I could soo be him if I allowed myself to think too much, LOL)

Still love NCIS, the Biggest Loser, and still watch Survivor. I don't know why. It's like a train wreck or something. I can't stop myself.

I agree about Grey's. I miss Burke and George and Izzy are a joke. I mean, come on! Izzy already had that great chemistry thing going with Alec. Why the need to ruin that?

I love Ugly Betty. I watched it from the first episode last season. I like it because its different from other stuff on TV.

I also love Heroes, but I am totally a super hero geek. I love Spider Man, Superman, all that kind of stuff.

The Office is great, but you definitely have to be a little weird to like it. Scrubs is the same way and I love it.

30 Rock is great! The writing is amazing. I don't care for Alec Baldwin, but on the show you aren't suppose to like him so it works.

I am not thrilled with Grey's. I hate the whole Izzie/George thing. Hello!!! He's married! Leave him alone!!!!

OK, I think I've said enough! :)

Watch Criminal Minds.

I was disappointed - severely - with Grey's premiere. Bo-ring. The show needs Burke, Meredith needs to GROW UP and George and Izzy...you said it, "ick." The "twist" with Meredith's sister is cheesy and ridiculous. I do still like Miranda. Finally a woman with some pluck who tells it like it is. Love her!

I kind of lost interest in GA after a while. Friday Night Lights is a good show if you haven't checked that one out.
The main stars Kyle Chandler and Connie Britton I think her name is--they play characters who are very family oriented, who don't have a perfect marriage and work hard to have a good relationship.
When I first heard about the show, I thought 'a football series', no thanks, it would bore me into a coma.
But the show is about so much more than football.
