SHOPPING
I don't really enjoy shopping. I know all women are supposed to love shopping, but my problem is I can never find what I want. Right now I'm looking for clothes to wear to the conference next week. I've been to SteinMart four times, to Penneys twice. I'm about to go again tonight. I had these jackets I just love that I bought last year but they're all too big now. You'd think I could find something similar but no such luck! I also need something to wear to the award night but I'm still losing weight and I hate to buy anything too expensive for a one time wearing.

We went to Saugatuck this weekend with our son and his family, my parents and Dave's mom. A full house but very fun! And I looked in every shop for jackets but none of them were right. I want some jackets with some slimming seams. Any advice on where to look? I have just one week to find something and I'm getting desperate! Even ordering online would work if you find something cute. And remember, I'm a winter. That means primary colors like navy, black, gray, red, royal blue. Have you noticed how things this year are ORANGE? Only autumns wear orange well and that's the least common season. What are designers thinking? I look like a pumpkin in orange!

So here's your chance to dress me. I need advice!

Christopher and Banks (or CJ Banks) has some great jackets in lots of styles and colors...

Oh I love Christopher and Banks but I didn't even think of them. Thanks, Valerie!

Hi Colleen!

I am SO not the one to offer advice on this one! :-) But, I figure I can at least offer some sympathy.

Oddly enough, I have good luck shopping via QVC. You can shop by brand, which doesn't really do ME any good, haha, but if you are somewhat saavy, you might find something. You can also shop by size and color, which might help you more. When I really need that "disposable" item, I shop at Ross's. (If they don't have them there, Ross is essentially the overflow store for department over-stocks, etc.) Kind of like a TJ Maxx.

Good luck!!! And congratulations for needing smaller clothes!! What a good problem to have, even if is a problem, nonetheless!

C, congrats on your weight loss! I'm sure it's a great feeling.

I found a jean jacket with slimming seams at Kohl's. I love it and wear it often. It looks good with capris or khakis. I can wear it with jeans without looking like I'm wearing a Texas tuxedo. If you have a Kohl's near you, check them out or go online at kohls.com.

I like Kohl's too!:) So fun to be shopping for smaller clothes, Colleen!

Well, I guess I'm late, I was going to say Christopher and Banks or Kohls. LOL. I have a favorite jean jacket that I love to wear with khaki's that I got at Kohls. Crystal Miller is probably laughing because I wear it all the time. It has slimming sides. Who doesn't love that?

Congrats, C on the weight loss.

I'm a non-shopper that is always staring down an "occasion" deadline, standing in my closet wondering where, oh, where, I tossed that black turtleneck that was completely inappropriate for the LAST opportunity, but would be PERFECT for this one....so, I can empathize with you on that.

I don't know if you have one anywhere near, and this is probably a Northwest thing, but I love Coldwater Creek. They have really good tailoring, dressy AND casual sorts that can be interchangable, and they are time-less or age-less or whatever that term may be that says, "I'm not trying to be a teeny-bopper, but these aren't my mother's polyester double-knits, either."

Good luck! I don't like orange, either, but I'm loving the turquoise, this year. (Of course, where I live, that may have been two years ago in fashion...)

I just ordered online at Old Navy maternity (since there's no maternity around here - go figure). I wouldn't recommend maternity for you :) ... however ... I must comment and say I LOVE ORANGE!!! But I think I'm an autumn. You'll have to confirm it in a week!!! :) A WEEK!!! AHHHH!!!

Oh I have to check out coldwater creek! We have a store in Ft wayne. Thanks!

Jaime, I can't wait to hug you! And I'll check out your season. LOL

Have you looked at Ann Taylor Loft? Also Kohl's always has great clothes.

Good luck!

I was also going to say Coldwater Creek. Sometimes they have really good sales online, but you have to catch them righ ton time. They always sell out fast.

I have to second the recommendation of Christopher and Banks. Also, since I can't pass up a deal, I thought I'd let you know there's a $10 off a $20 purchase coupon available right now if you go here: http://cbk.rsys1.net/servlet/website/ResponseForm?JIrE9htIpgLK_3LsJhtL_VTTCTWVZE.2e.262.2eUTTFy.26.2eb.40.40f7beD9vf

Hope you find something great!

Good cuts usually cost money. Do you have a Nordstrom Rack? I can't believe how much thinner rich people get to look just by well-made clothing. That is SO wrong!

K. Think of where I live. We barely have a super Walmart let alone a Nordstrom Rack! LOL I wish we did though!

I'm in between two Nordstrom Racks. I guess we're understanding why I couldn't find success in Auburn, aren't we? Alcohol you can get anywhere, but you can't shop anywhere. Though Zappos did help once we got mail service.

I love Coldwater Creek. You can't beat it for jackets - they seem to have more styles on line. Today is the last day for 25% off, either online or at the store.

After 4 back surgeries, QVC remains a favorite with me. Just type in jacket, your size and preference. Just be sure to measure something that fits you well and be sure what you order has the same measurements (garment). Just a trick I learned over the past years :)
