Girls Write Out
Friday, April 14, 2006

I’m on deadline and have a lot on my plate today, but it’s Good Friday so I plan to pause and remember . . . .

Our church choir is doing something unusual tonight. We’re presenting the Easter story, stopping with Jesus’ death on the cross. On Easter morning we will celebrate His resurrection but for tonight we plan to pause and remember . . . .

No doubt you have lots to do just now. Maybe you have company coming for the weekend or just Easter dinner, but your mind is buzzing with all the lists you need to write and accomplish. In the thick of all you have to do, it is my prayer for you that you will pause and remember . . . .

I read the story from the Bible this morning to my children. I thought it was really important for them to understand what is Good Friday. I don't think I really understood it as a child. We will all reflect today on the sacrifice He made on our behalf and not forget His suffering. My girls were late to school, but I think it was worth it.

It's so easy to let the important days slip by us without really teaching them to our children or stopping to think about them. That's great that you took the time to explain it to your girls!

And to think He did it for me-and you. That's grace. Do you remember that definition?

Justice: getting what you deserve.

Mercy: not getting what you deserve.

Grace: getting what you don't deserve.

Peace and grace to you this Easter.

May you all have a blessed Easter!

have a great easter diann. we have such a busy weekend, my church has a big production on friday (yesterday) and sunday. i'm in the choir and it's so much fun! sometimes when i am involved in these productions, it's so easy to forget the reason why we are doing it because we see it so many times! but this time every time i've watched it, i remember the reason we are doing this, and what Jesus went thru, for ME! so powerful eh.
