NEW PUBLICITY PHOTOS
I've just got to crow about Diann's daughter Amber Zimmerman. Her photography business is Amber Z Photography. She's got a real gift with composition, ala Anne Geddis. She did these three last night. When I get all the pics I'll put more up. If you live within driving distance of Fort Wayne, you should have her do your pictures. I'm going to have her do pics of my darling pregnant Donna when she's really big just before the baby comes. And AFTER of course too, I'll want baby pictures. Amber is just the best photographer I've ever gone to. She does such great things with light and shadow.

I have to share how it all went down last night. It was raining cats and dogs so our idea of going to an urban alley wouldn't work so we went to Anchor Room Christian Bookstore. Folks looked at us a little strangely as we moved tables around and Amber climbed into the window to aim her camera down at me. LOL And we went out into the rain with an umbrella. Poor Diann was the "assistant" and she had to get wet while she held the umbrella over Amber to keep the camera dry. LOL What a fun night though!

Which of these is your favorite?

Oooh, Amber is so good! You look gorgeous, C!

I think you should use the one with your chin on your hand for your books. I love the first one, but you look too happy for a suspense writer. LOL

Oh, and I think an urban alley was a great idea for the setting.

Colleen! These are AWESOME!I think the top one is my favorite, but I really like the middle one, too. I don't usually like serious photos, especially of someone with such a pretty smile, who's rarely seen without a smile, but that photo is gorgeous, too! I love the way your smile is JUST behind the sparkle in your eyes. Anyone who knows you, knows that you burst into a full-blown smile the split second after the camera flashed. I can't WAIT to see the rest of the pictures!!!

I love them all (of course, i would!), but I have to say my favorite of the three is the last one! I think it looks so pensive and romantic!!! Raindrops behind you, all that. WOW!

All look terrific. My personal favorite is the second on the left ~ the one with your face resting on your fist.

I like the top one. :)

Isn't she good? And she did some with me NOT smiling. Well see how those look.

Deb, you should see the baby pictures Amber does. You'd want some for your grandbabies. LOL

They all look good! Amber has a gift with photography, and the rainy setting behind you is beautiful. If I had to pick, I'd say the second and third pics for your books.

They are gorgeous. And it sounds like fun. Did you feel like a model?

I think the comment your husband made about your "short hair phase" is funny. When my hair is the length of yours, we consider it long! I've gone pretty extreme a few times.

I love love LOVE the top one! I love everything about it, you sparkle with happiness!

I love the one with your hand on your chin!

These are great photos!

Additional thought. I love the second one the most. It says to me "serious author." Your eyes are so expressive, but there's a sophistication about you and the composition.

Those are great! As a general picture, I like the top one! Love that smile and the way your whole face lights up! For publicity, I like the one of you looking out the window. The rain and your gazing looks like you are contemplating the next plot. It's reflective without being morose.

The haircut looks wonderful!

I like the middle one first and the top one second. Like your hair even better in these pics!

Gorgeous pictures.

Wow! Amber's amazing. I want her to take pictures of me! They all look great Colleen.

Although, I have to say I like the top one best. It just seems to capture your warm personality. :)

ihave to say that they all look FANTASTIC!!! seriously!!! What a great hairdo and amazing pictures to boot! YAY you!! :-)

Thanks friends! Glad you like them all. She took one from the OUTSIDE looking at me in the inside through a window blurred with rain. Very cool.

She's inspired!

I like number two the best. I think you look like a 'real' writer there. LOL

Your eyes are still sparkling/twinkling, even in the most serious ones. Will be fun to see the rest.

I like number one/top, hands down. You have that cute crinkling of your nose on that one, but still managed to stay somewhat serious. I really like it best.

Diann is gonna, of course, vote for one with RAIN because of all the rain she had to go through to get photos.

Since I went from hair below my waist to super pixie cut in college and remember very much how it felt--I want to know how the shorter hair FEELS? Do you miss it or does it feel great?

Amber IS good! I like #1 for the composition, but #2 is the most flattering, Colleen. :D

Man, I sure wished I lived close enough!

I like the top one and the left one the best. :)

Your new hairstyle is wonderful!

I really like the first picture. I wish I could tell you why I like it, but its my preference - but all 3 are wonderful!

At 12:07 AM, Blogger Colleen Coble said...

Amber really did get some serious ones! I just don't have them yet. LOL

Thanks for all the input, friends!

I love pic #2. It's the one that shows you as the author you are.
I think it's the very best one. Can't wait to to see more pic's. :)

I like the one with your chin on your hand. It looks like you are thoughtful working on a book. I love your books. My second choice would be the third one. God Bless.

I'd pick the top one for a portrait but the second for a book jacket. But I still have a hard time wrapping my brain around your picture and "Abomination" together.

Have you reached back to wash hair and grabbed air yet? Too much shampoo for the shorter locks?

At 7:44 AM, Blogger Andrea said...

There were all very nice but y favorite is the third one. The first one is nice, too. Mainly because they are different. Not your normal picture. I like different and unique.

Your hair cut gives you a nice fresh look! I hope you still like it. Does your head feel lighter? :)

#1 or #2.

But Denise is right...you look SO gorgeous!

I love the first and third the best!

At 3:22 PM, Blogger Chelf said...

Wow, I don't know which to pick, they are all great! I think for the back of a book, don't go with the one looking away. People want to see your face. I like the first two, and I seriously would have to toss a coin to decide.

At 4:25 PM, Blogger Peggy Blann Phifer said...

As everyone has already expressed, they're ALL great. For publicity, though, I think I like #3 with you gazing out the window. It seems so fitting - as someone (don't remember who) said, like your thinking through your next plot, or working out a troublesome area. But, they're all good. Let's see the rest and see how we all change our minds. LOL

At 10:12 PM, Blogger Colleen Coble said...

My mind is a scary thing, Melanie! LOL

I'll upload the other pics to a website when I get them and see which you all think would look best on the back of the book. I HAVE to use some of these on my website though.

Malia, come to the ACFW Conference in 2009. I've already asked Amber to take conference pics!

And by the way, you all are making me blush. LOL
