My son looks just like my mother-in-law.

How did that happen? I went through all the work, but there he is, big as you please, boasting my mother-in-law's dark hair, eyes, smile.

Which is a good thing, by the way. She was a beautiful woman with a spirit to match. She died two years ago and I miss her greatly. But I've always thought it interesting how our son looks just like she did in her younger days. I told my daughter-in-law the least she could do was have a child that looks like me, but so far, she hasn't complied. :-)

Our daughter has a child who looks like my husband's side of the family and we get such a kick out of that. I wanted a blue-eyed kid (he has great blue eyes) but never had one. My daughter did, though. Isn't it funny how these things play out?

So what's it like in your family? Do you have children that resemble your parents/in-laws? Aunts? Uncles? It's just so weird how that happens. I think it's pretty fascinating, really.

Oh I love this kind of thing! Our daughter's legs are shaped like my mother in law's but she looks a lot like me. She's really a blend. It's been fun to look at our Punky and see where she falls. I think she has my hair. Kara's too, for that matter. She has her daddy's eyes and hairline, which is to say MY eyes as well.

This means a lot to me because i'm an only child--I love comparing family likenesses with my cousins. With more than 55 first cousins on Mom's side of the family, I have a lot of comparisons to make.

I am redhead, my brother is a redhead, and my dad and grandma were redheads.

Did I get a redheaded child? Nope! When my first daughter was born, the nurse said, "It's a girl! And she has red hair!" WHen they brought her to me, I thought I had the wrong baby because she was NOT a redhead! In the window, for a split second, the sun caught it and it flashed bright red. I guess that is what the nurse saw ....

Today, both my daughters have beautiful blond hair with highlights women pay big bucks for, haha! They are only 7 and 6, so we will see how it evolves!

Beverly, don't give up. Your grandkids will probably be red-heads. Cool, huh? :-)

Our son looks like his dad. When he was a baby he had my fair coloring. But he also has his dad's tendacy to tan, I would freckle or burn.

I never knew any of my side until just recently, although my son, who was a Mulligan through and through, began to look more like me in his adulthood. But when I met my half-sisters, all that changed. WOW! We all look alike, one of my sisters' son looks a lot like mine. It seems the Mullvain genes were the strongest on their side.

Oy! Couple Mullvain with Mulligan and you've got some strong Irish genes. :D

HI!

My daughter has beautiful strawberry blond hair and I always hoped for a little redheaded grandson. God, in His wisdom, gave us two little granddaughters through adoption and they couldn't be more loved!

The oldest looks so much like her dad you would never know she isn't theirs. Light hair and big blue eyes - going to be a heart-breaker.

The youngest has dark curly hair and brown eyes that sparkle. She could almost pass as my husband's grandchild, as he is Hispanic.

His daughter married a 'gringo', like me, and has a hazel eyed blond little boy who looks nothing like her! Some have even asked where his mom is -- :)

It just goes to show that whether by adoption or birth, God gives us the children we were meant to have. I love all of them and would love to have 10 more -- not going to happen, lol.
